Ending Violence

Whether in the home or at school, in the workplace or in the military, gender-based violence undermines security at its very core and jeopardizes the right to fundamental safety that all human beings need to survive. Since our inception, the Ms. Foundation has worked in partnership with grassroots, state and national organizations to end gender-based violence by transforming policies, beliefs and behaviors that threaten the well-being of individuals, families and communities nationwide.

In the earliest days of the women's anti-violence movement, the Ms. Foundation was among the first to fund domestic violence shelters, sexual-assault hotlines and other intervention services for women survivors. In more recent years, we have supported a range of community-based strategies to stop violence before it occurs—to prevent violence directed against women and girls and LGBTQ individuals. Today, the Ms. Foundation leads the way in supporting a movement to advance a community-based, social justice approach to child sexual abuse prevention.
